Last summer, the Romanian team for blind chess, part of the Association of the Blind in Romania, participated in the IBCA Chess Olympiad in Serbia, where it ranked among the top 16 teams in the world, thus securing qualification for the 2026 World Team Championship.
The current competition is taking place in Petrovac, Montenegro, from April 17 to 28, bringing together teams from over 20 countries. The competition format is Swiss, with 9 rounds and classic playing time. The Romanian team, ranked 10th, includes top athletes such as FM Mihail-Dacian Pribeanu, and benefits from the support of the company Betano, which sponsors the team's participation in international competitions. This participation represents an opportunity for Romanian athletes to demonstrate their skills and to continue progress in chess for the blind.
