Problems with the retractable roof of the National Arena, unused since 2020: it can only be drawn under favorable weather conditions. PMB has clarified these conditions.

The National Arena in Bucharest, built between 2008 and 2011 at a cost of 235 million euros, is facing multiple issues, including the retractable roof, which has not been used since December 2020 due to a blockage in the electromechanical system. Paul Andrei, a commentator for Digi Sport, requested clarifications regarding the use of the roof, and the Bucharest City Hall (PMB) responded with details about the conditions necessary to deploy it. The roof can only be opened in the absence of precipitation and with adherence to certain wind speed limits. Decisions are made by a command composed of representatives from the administrator and the organizers, and the decision to close it must be made at least 8 hours before the event. PMB confirmed that the roof is operational and there are no functioning issues.
