Football in Turkey has been shaken by a huge scandal, just a few months before the playoff with Romania. 29 players are accused of betting on their own teams' matches.

Turkish justice ordered the arrest of 46 people on Friday, of which 29 are football players, as part of a large investigation into betting on football matches, announced the Istanbul prosecutor's office. Among them is Metehan Baltaci, a player for Galatasaray, the prosecutor's office indicated, which did not specify the identity of the other 26 accused players.

Mert Hakan Yandaş, a player for Fenerbahçe, is suspected of having bet on various matches through a third party.
