Sorana Cîrstea, at the age of 36, was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Wimbledon tournament, being defeated by Linda Noskova with 6-2, 3-6, 6-7(9).

However, her performance at the All England Club will allow her to rise one place in the WTA rankings, reaching position 17, the best ranking of her career. Cîrstea now has 2535 points, and the new world ranking will be published on Monday. In the WTA Live rankings, the next player from Romania is Jaqueline Cristian, in 36th place, while Gabriela Ruse is in 72nd place.

The Wimbledon final will be contested between Linda Noskova and Karolina Muchova, and Noskova was the player who eliminated Cîrstea, already having a trophy won at Roland Garros.
