Rinat Ahmetov, the president of the Shakhtar Donetsk football club, has decided to donate $200,000 to Ukrainian athlete Vladislav Heraskevich, disqualified from the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. The disqualification occurred on February 12, after Heraskevich wore a commemorative helmet with photographs of Ukrainian athletes killed in the war with Russia, which was considered a violation of Article 50 of the Olympic Charter by the International Olympic Committee.

Ahmetov emphasized that, although Heraskevich could not compete, he remains a symbol of respect and pride for Ukrainians. The donation corresponds to the first awarded to Ukrainian athletes who win gold medals at the Olympics, thus highlighting support for athletes who fight for freedom and memory.
