Rayo Vallecano remains without a stadium before the start of the new La Liga season / The government has ordered urgent works to be carried out.

The Rayo Vallecano team is facing a difficult situation, having no stadium less than three weeks before the start of the 2026-27 season. The regional government of Madrid decided on Tuesday to carry out urgent renovation works on the Vallecas stadium for safety reasons. The stadium's concession has been withdrawn from the club, and the works could take several months. The regional Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Mariano de Paco Serrano, emphasized that the authorities will take urgent measures to ensure the safety of the stadium.

Rayo Vallecano, known for its working-class identity, has a stadium with approximately 15,000 seats, which was in a state of disrepair. Until the renovations are completed, the club will need to find a solution to host its home matches. The President of the Professional League, Javier Tebas, mentioned that Rayo has a backup stadium, without providing further details.

Rayo will start the season with an away match in Sevilla on August 15, followed by a home match against Alavés on August 20.
