The Australian coach Ange Postecoglou was dismissed from Tottenham after a two-year period, just 16 days after leading the team to victory in the Europa League final, marking the club's first major trophy in 17 years. However, the European success was not reflected in the Premier League, where Tottenham finished in 17th place in his final season. Postecoglou was replaced by former Brentford coach Thomas Frank, but the team is currently in 11th place, with 22 points from 16 matches, suffering a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest. Player Van de Ven stated that he was surprised by Postecoglou's dismissal, emphasizing that he was a good coach who brought trophies to the club: "I don't know how everything went backstage. I didn't expect it. It was strange how everything went after - he's the manager that won silverware for Tottenham. Afterwards, when he got sacked, I sent a message to my dad and my friends and said, 'I never expected this'."
