CS Dinamo athlete David Popovici achieved the best time in the preliminary heats of the swimming event with 1:46.84 minutes. Competing in the final heat, he got off to a great start with a time of 24.25 seconds on the first length of the pool. Popovici finished well ahead of second-placed Irishman Evan Bailey, while Bulgaria's Petar Mitsin was the only other athlete under 1:47 minutes. The final is scheduled for Thursday evening at 19:24.
