In a press conference, the head coach of the United States, Mauricio Pochettino, stated that his team has the potential to win the World Cup in the summer of 2026. With only three months before the competition, Pochettino encouraged the players to play without pressure, drawing inspiration from the performances of athletes in the NFL and NBA. He emphasized the importance of freedom in play to achieve good results, recalling his experience in 2002 when Argentina, the favorite, was eliminated early. The USA is ranked 15th in the FIFA rankings and will compete in Group D, alongside Paraguay, Australia, and the winner of the Kosovo - Turkey playoff. The team's star, Christian Pulisic, acknowledged that pressure is a constant at the World Cup. After the friendly match with Belgium, the USA will face Portugal, preparing for the official tournament that will take place between June 11 and July 19, 2026.
