Coach Mircea Lucescu stated on Monday, at a press conference before the match against San Marino, that he is not thinking about leaving.

"For the failure to qualify, I bear the greatest blame. I am responsible for the result, they are responsible for the game. I dismiss myself, no one dismisses me. The team is being built, it is not known if I will still be at the playoff. There is still time until March, I have an age, I might get sick. It is not known what will happen," Lucescu said.

The Romanian national team was defeated on Saturday evening in Zenica, with a score of 3-1, by the team from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the penultimate round of Group H of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. In the last match of the qualifiers, Romania will face San Marino on Tuesday evening in Ploiești, starting at 21:45.
