French Olympic champion Leon Marchand smashed the world record in the men's 200-meter individual medley with an impressive time of 1:52.69 in the semi-final of the World Championships in Singapore. Marchand broke the previous record of 1:54.00, set by Ryan Lochte in 2011. After a period of recovery and injury, he made a strong return to competition, focusing on the 200m and 400m individual medley events.
