LeBron James set a new record Thursday night, surpassing the number of points scored in the NBA regular season, reaching 15,842 points, previously held by the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Although his team, the Los Angeles Lakers, lost the game to the Denver Nuggets 113-120, LeBron's performance was remarkable, with 16 points and 8 assists. At 41 years old and in his 23rd season in the NBA, LeBron set the record with a shot from mid-court at the end of the first quarter.
"The fact that my name is mentioned alongside the greatest players in the history of this sport has always been an honor and a really cool thing. It is a really cool thing. I grew up watching and reading, idolizing many of the greatest players. And if I could have ever been a part of the NBA, I would have wanted to be in a position to be named alongside the greatest players, doing something good." said James.
