Ana Bărbosu has been suspended from competitions, starting from May 5, by the International Testing Agency (ITA), due to violations of anti-doping rules (ADRV). The agency accuses the gymnast of "three failures to comply with the obligation to communicate her whereabouts, committed over a period of 12 months." Bărbosu later had a first reaction following the suspension, through a post on Instagram, clarifying that the suspension is not related to banned substances.
"I would like to share and clarify some information that has circulated recently. As you can imagine, moving to the United States and starting college has represented a major transition. Adapting to all these changes has been a challenge, but I continue to learn and develop through every experience. To be clear, this situation has nothing to do with banned substances, and I am grateful for the guidance and support received throughout this process," Ana Bărbosu wrote in her post.
