Alain Orsoni (71 years old), the former president of AC Ajaccio, was assassinated in France, right at his mother's funeral. He had transferred Adrian Mutu to the team.

The former Corsican nationalist leader Alain Orsoni, aged 71, who transformed into a businessman, former president of the professional football club Ajaccio, was shot dead on Monday in the village of Vero, in the French department of Corse-du-Sud, at his mother's funeral.

Known for his political sense and his cold blood, Alain Orsoni left Corsica in 1996, during the height of the fratricidal war in the nationalist movement. Shortly after his return from exile, a murder plot targeting him was thwarted by the police in the summer of 2008.

At the same time, he succeeded his friend Michel Moretti, a former nationalist who had just died, as president of the Athletic Club Ajaccio (ACA).

In 2012, Orsoni transferred Adrian Mutu to Ajaccio. The "Brilliant" played 37 matches in 2 seasons, scoring 11 goals.
