Real Madrid has announced the final results of the vote for the presidency of the club, with Florentino Perez winning a new term with 65% of the votes, that is, 21,741 votes, compared to 11,814 votes (35%) for his opponent, Enrique Riquelme.
The Electoral Commission confirmed Perez's victory, who was re-elected for an eighth term, which will last until 2030. This was Perez's first electoral challenge since 2009, and he declared victory "on all fronts," achieving "the second best result in history." Riquelme, president of the energy group COX, acknowledged his defeat after polls placed Perez in the lead.
The elections were called by Perez after a season without major titles, and in his speech, he announced that the first major decision will be the return of José Mourinho as coach, after 13 years since his first term at the club.
