Fabio Cannavaro, former world champion and winner of the Ballon d'Or, has been appointed head coach of the Uzbekistan national team.

Italian coach Fabio Cannavaro has been officially appointed as the coach of the Uzbekistan national team, which has qualified for the 2026 World Cup. He will debut on the technical bench on October 13, in a friendly match against Uruguay. Cannavaro, the winner of the Ballon d'Or in 2006, has previous experience as the head coach of China and recently coached Dinamo Zagreb.
