On Friday, at 7:00 PM, the draw for the groups for the 2026 World Cup will take place in Washington DC, a final tournament that will be hosted for the first time by three countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States, between June 11 and July 19. This edition will be historic, as 48 teams will participate for the first time.

The former captain of the England national team, Rio Ferdinand, has been appointed by FIFA to lead the draw for the 2026 World Cup. He will be assisted by former American footballer Samantha Johnson.

The Romanian national team will be present at the draw by participating in the play-off scheduled for March 2026. The Tricolors can still qualify if they defeat Turkey on March 26, 2026, and then the winner between Slovakia and Kosovo on March 31, 2026. Both play-off matches, played in a single leg, will take place away.
