Donald Trump, the president of the USA, has received permission from FIFA to join the winning team of the 2026 World Cup at the trophy presentation ceremony, similar to his participation in the 2025 Club World Cup, where he celebrated alongside the Chelsea players.
FIFA officials have confirmed that Trump will have an important role in the closing ceremony, and both representatives from Mexico and Canada will be present. At the Club World Cup, Trump drew attention by standing next to Chelsea captain Reece James as he lifted the trophy, even though he was initially removed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
FIFA protocol usually allows the trophy to be lifted by a member of the winning team, but sources suggest that Trump will choose to remain with the team during the ceremony. Although he was not present at the USA-Paraguay match, Trump will be at the final of the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium.
