David Popovici, 20, qualified for the 100m freestyle final with a time of 46.84 seconds, taking second place. Although he was also entered in the 50m, he chose not to compete. Popovici has already won the gold medal in the 200m freestyle and will compete in the 100m final in lane 5. Another notable detail is that the big favorite Zhenle Pan from China missed qualifying for the final.
