The national team of Curacao has made history at the World Cup, earning their first point after a 0-0 draw with Ecuador in the second round of Group E. Although the Ecuadorians dominated the match, coach Dick Advocaat, at the age of 80, was visibly emotional at the end, with tears in his eyes. Goalkeeper Eloy Room was the hero of the team, being the most outstanding player on the field.
In another group match, Germany defeated the Ivory Coast 2-1, thus securing their qualification for the knockout stage. In the Group E standings, Germany leads with 6 points, followed by the Ivory Coast with 3 points, while Ecuador and Curacao each have one point.
The last matches in the group will take place on June 25, when Curacao will face the Ivory Coast, and Ecuador will play against Germany.
