An American investment fund has purchased 55% of the shares of Atletico Madrid club for 2.5 billion euros

The American group Apollo has decided to acquire approximately 55% of the shares of Atletico Madrid, valuing the total worth of the club at 2.5 billion euros. This transaction represents a new incursion of private equity firms into the sports sector, attracted by its stable revenues.

CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin and president Enrique Cerezo will continue to hold their positions and remain minority shareholders. The investment is expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2026. Jim Miller, co-director of Ares Sport, stated that they are pleased to remain minority investors and to continue providing strategic support to the club.
