Anastasia Potapova, a 24-year-old tennis player and currently ranked 51st in the WTA, announced on Instagram that she will start representing Austria from 2026, after the Austrian government accepted her citizenship request. She is the latest Russian player to change her citizenship due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Potapova has three WTA titles to her name, all won at 250-point tournaments, including in Istanbul 2022, Linz 2023, and the Transylvania Open 2025. Recently, she defeated Lucia Bronzetti in the final in Cluj-Napoca. Additionally, Potapova has made her relationship with Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor public, following a brief marriage to Alexander Shevchenko.
