Amedspor, the most important Kurdish football club in Turkey, was sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for producing a video deemed 'propaganda' in favor of Kurdish fighters in Syria. The video, which was distributed last week, featured a woman in the stands braiding her hair against the backdrop of the Kurdish slogan song 'Jin, jiyan, azadi' ('Women, life, freedom').

This reaction came after a Syrian soldier posted images bragging about acts of violence against a Kurdish fighter. Amedspor was fined 802,500 Turkish lira (approximately 15,500 euros) for 'ideological propaganda', and the club's president was suspended for 15 days for damaging the reputation of Turkish football, according to the TFF statement.
