The President of the Turkish Football Federation, Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu, announced that the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office has issued 46 arrest warrants as part of an investigation related to illegal betting on matches. Among those arrested are 27 players, including Metehan Baltac, a central defender reserve at Galatasaray, accused of betting on his own matches.
Additionally, officials and players involved in match-fixing in the Second and Third Divisions have also been arrested. Another notable name is referee Zorbay Kuçuk, who was arrested for corruption after initially being acquitted. The former president of Adana Demirspor, Murat Sancak, was also arrested, with his club now in 20th place in the Second Division, having -22 points due to sanctions.
