Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced sanctions against pro-Russian politicians in the Republic of Moldova, aimed at supporting the stability of the country ahead of parliamentary elections. The measures target individuals acting in the interest of Moscow, including the Bashkan of Gagauzia, Evghenia Guțul. Although the sanctions are rather symbolic, they underline Ukraine's support for Moldova, which aspires to join the EU. Polls indicate that Maia Sandu's party, PAS, could win the elections, but it will not be able to govern alone.
