The National Police of Ukraine announced the identification of 654 members of the Russian armed groups Wagner and Redut, involved in military actions against Ukraine. This operation is part of the international investigation 'Avengers-2', coordinated by Europol, aimed at dismantling the mercenary networks funded by Russia. Over 70 simultaneous searches are underway in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, targeting the homes of suspects. Authorities have gathered evidence regarding war crimes, including executions of civilians and the use of prohibited weapons.
Following the searches, charges of high treason have been issued against Ukrainian citizens who collaborated with the enemy, risking severe penalties. Investigations continue in the Republic of Moldova, where 25 Moldovan citizens have been identified as having fought within the Wagner group. Authorities are considering the possibility of issuing international arrest warrants for them. Additionally, international cooperation has led to the detention of some members of the Wagner group in the USA and Finland, demonstrating the effectiveness of efforts against Russian mercenaries.
