In 2026, the minimum wage in the Republic of Moldova will be 6,300 Moldovan lei (approximately 1,644 Romanian lei) per month, according to a decision by the Government of Chișinău, which represents a 15% increase compared to 2025. The Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Natalia Plugaru, emphasized that this increase is part of a trend of constant growth in the minimum wage, which was only 2,935 Moldovan lei in 2021. The government aims to continue this annual increase, with the final goal of reaching a minimum wage of 10,000 Moldovan lei.
It was also decided to increase the one-time allowance for the birth of a child, which will reach almost 22,000 Moldovan lei, thus benefiting over 36,000 children in 2026. These measures are part of the government strategy to support families and stimulate the workforce.
