The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova announced that, starting this year, all bachelor's and master's theses will be checked using anti-plagiarism software, a measure aimed at combating the phenomenon of commercializing academic works.
The Minister of Education, Dan Perciun, stated that the platform was purchased from Romania and will be used nationwide to analyze the works submitted by students. Annually, approximately 15,000 theses will be checked, with the cost of a verification being about 2 euros per work. Perciun emphasized the extent of the plagiarism phenomenon in the university environment, mentioning that the ministry's data shows a significant prevalence of cheating in exams and of works that are copied or purchased. This initiative aims to improve the credibility of the university system in the country. University rectors from Moldova participated in the public debates on this topic.
