The Information and Security Service (SIS) of the Republic of Moldova announced that the personal data of citizens are being collected by Russian special services, according to a statement published on Facebook.
This information is obtained through illegal methods, including private databases sold on the Dark Web and extracted by hacking servers. Additionally, the organized criminal group Șor has collected data on approximately 145,000 citizens. SIS highlighted that these databases contain detailed information, such as names, surnames, email addresses, and copies of identity documents.
The information is transmitted to organized crime groups to be used in scams and fund thefts. Citizens are advised not to provide personal data to strangers and to verify any requests for information. SIS emphasized that these actions are part of a hybrid war against national stability and has informed state institutions to take precautionary measures.
