Moldova is facing a manipulation offensive from Russia ahead of the elections on September 28, aimed at undermining confidence in the electoral process.

The Insikt Group and Recorded Future report highlights Russian influence operations aimed at affecting the elections in Moldova, emphasizing the activities of platforms such as Operation Overload, Operation Undercut, Pravda Moldova, Portal Kombat, as well as Evrazia and Moldova24, connected to the fugitive convict Ilan Șor. These entities primarily discredit the work of President Maia Sandu and the Action and Solidarity Party, promoting false messages about European integration. Russian propaganda uses deepfakes and fake news to induce panic and distrust in institutions. Experts warn that these campaigns pose a major threat to Moldovan democracy, recommending rapid information measures and media education for citizens.
