The Republic of Moldova officially launched the Moldova International Stock Exchange (BIMx) in Chișinău on Monday, a project developed in partnership with the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) to develop the local capital market and connect it to the European economy.
The new exchange is now entering the stage of admitting brokers and issuers, while the first transactions are scheduled to begin in the coming months. The first listing is planned by the end of 2026.
BIMx is starting with share capital of approximately €1.5 million. BVB is the largest shareholder, with a 26.67% stake, while the Moldovan state, through the Public Property Agency, holds 20%.
BIMx Director General Veronica Aprintin announced that the share capital is expected to be increased to €3 million this year. The exchange already has letters of intent for investments worth €1.1 million and is seeking strategic partners and institutional investors.
The institution’s management says BIMx will provide companies with an alternative source of financing, give investors access to the economy of the Republic of Moldova, and offer authorities and entrepreneurs new tools for development. In August, the exchange received the necessary authorizations to administer the regulated market and the multilateral trading system.
