The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău condemned the plan of the Russian Federation to open an additional 16 polling stations in Transnistria for the legislative elections in September, considering this action uncoordinated with the Moldovan authorities as "unacceptable" and a "violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity" of the Republic of Moldova.
The Transnistrian leader, Vadim Krasnoselski, announced that Moscow will open these polling stations on the occasion of the elections for the State Duma of the Russian Federation on September 20, despite the fact that the Russian Embassy agreed with the Moldovan authorities to open only one polling station in Chișinău. The Moldovan Ministry emphasized that the organization of electoral processes by foreign states on the territory of the country must be coordinated with the constitutional authorities.
