Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic of Moldova, sent a message of solidarity with the Ukrainian people on Tuesday, marking four years since the beginning of the Russian invasion. In her post, Maia Sandu praised Ukraine's resistance, describing it as 'a light for the entire free world.' She paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the conflict and expressed compassion for the victims of the war, including prisoners of war. The President reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova's commitment to supporting Ukraine in its pursuit of a just peace, highlighting the impact of the war on the region, including Moldova, which has received hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees.
"In the dawn of a day that changed history, Ukraine chose to resist. And it stood tall. The determination of the Ukrainian people is a light for the entire free world.
We bow in memory of those who lost their lives in the four years of war. We share the pain of those who have lost a loved one. We remember the suffering of those who were injured or fled from the guns. We do not forget the torment of tortured and humiliated prisoners of war in captivity.
We will always be grateful to Ukrainians for defending our peace and freedom and that of all Europe. Ukraine deserves a just peace. And we will support Ukraine with unwavering solidarity," Maia Sandu conveyed.
