The Comrat has signed a declaration requesting Chișinău not to block the organization of elections in the region. The interim president, Nicolae Ormanji, announced that he sent a letter to Turkish President Recep Erdogan, asking for his support in the context of Turkey having provided assistance to Găgăuzia for 35 years. This action comes after the Southern Appeal Court suspended the decisions of the People's Assembly regarding the organization of elections scheduled for June 21. Assembly members believe that interventions by central authorities affect the autonomy of Găgăuzia, which has the right to organize its own elections according to the Constitution of Moldova. Additionally, the Assembly has requested the courts to ensure a swift examination of disputes and emphasized that citizens' right to free elections should not depend on the will of central authorities. The current mandate of the Assembly has expired, and organizing elections has become impossible due to the suspension of administrative acts. The Ministry of Justice has requested the Constitutional Court to verify the constitutionality of the legal provisions regarding the elections in Găgăuzia.
