USR MEP Radu Miruță's legislative initiative to combat manipulation and illegal content on social networks was tacitly adopted by the Senate. The draft provides for measures to ensure that digital platforms quickly remove illegal content without restricting freedom of expression. Under the law, platforms will have 15 minutes to take action against harmful content, and failure to comply will attract penalties of up to 1% of turnover.
