USR Senator, Ștefan Pălărie, stated on Tuesday that state institutions must fulfill their responsibilities regarding the false photographs that emerged during last year's presidential campaign. Pălărie emphasized that USR had no connection to these photos, revealed by Elena Lasconi, and stated that the party has a zero-tolerance policy towards violations of the law. He explained that USR decided to support Nicușor Dan's candidacy and was not involved in the publication of those images, which appeared to be untrue. Pălărie mentioned that USR's reaction to Lasconi's revelations was clear, rejecting political tactics that contradict the party's values. He also called for clarification from state institutions regarding how this information was managed. In May 2025, Elena Lasconi published photographs suggesting a meeting between her opponents and General Florian Coldea, which led to a criminal complaint filed by Nicușor Dan with DIICOT for altering computer content.
