The Interim Minister of Labor, Dragoș Pîslaru, stated that the new draft of the unified salary law will reconfigure the salary scales for all professional categories, including dignitaries, based on a system of coefficient equivalence. The salary of a minister will increase by approximately 22%, that is, by 2,500 lei. Pîslaru emphasized that the increases will not be applied immediately, considering the austerity measures, and the Government has requested the European Commission the possibility to temporarily freeze these increases.

The salary reform aims to correct the imbalances in the public sector, without directly comparing the salaries of dignitaries with those of other professions. Additionally, the subject of institutions exempted from the salary law remains open for debate. Pîslaru assured that the equivalence system will ensure fair remuneration in public administration, and the salary increases are the result of a technical evaluation.
