The government adopted on Friday, in an extraordinary meeting, a decision that establishes measures to limit electricity consumption for large industrial consumers, in the event of a crisis in the National Electric Power System.
Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized that these measures will not affect household consumers and critical infrastructures. The measures will be implemented by Transelectrica, which will notify companies 24 hours in advance.
The decision provides for the use of technological reserves, reduction of exports, and, as a last resort, limitation of industrial consumption.
Bolojan also announced the establishment of a National Operational Center for coordinating measures in the energy sector.
The decision was made in the context of severe hydrological drought and risks to energy production.
