Transcripts from the PNL meeting: What Ilie Bolojan told party colleagues before the "decapitation" of several branches / Reactions from Adrian Veștea and Hubert Thuma

In a tense meeting, PNL decided to dismiss six branch leaders, including Monica Anisie, Andrei Baciu, Ionuț Stroe, Dan Meran, Dragoș Soare, and Laurențiu Scarlat. According to some transcripts, Ilie Bolojan justified that the dismissals were based on poor electoral results.

"I can accept grievances, but, in all fairness, I believe there are realities that we cannot contest. There are counties in Romania where PNL, in the last elections managed on its own, the presidential and parliamentary elections, obtained results far below the party's average. It is evident," said Ilie Bolojan, according to sources from Hotnews.ro.

Also according to the transcripts, Adrian Vețea and Hubert Thuma contested Bolojan's decision, denouncing a "witch hunt."

"I understand: you want to bring in new people from POT, SOS, REPER, but my opinion is that they need to run for office. A person does not become representative just because they are imposed and supported by you, Mr. Bolojan," Hubert Thuma addressed Ilie Bolojan during the meeting.

"I believe it would be normal to hold elections in the organization and see who the true leaders of PNL are at the county level. (...) Otherwise, we are just conducting a witch hunt; it would be democratic and manly to hold these elections in the county branches," Adrian Vețea also argued.
