President Nicușor Dan declared on Thursday, in Brussels, that Romania will benefit from additional support from Portugal and Slovakia to defend against drone threats. This assistance joins those already offered by the United States, France, Italy, and Spain, following recent meetings at NATO.
Dan emphasized the importance of obtaining this rapid support, considering that Romania already has signed contracts for equipment under the SAFE program, but needs time for their delivery. He mentioned that he will discuss with other European leaders to ensure a prompt response. At the same time, the European Parliament adopted a resolution reaffirming EU unity in the face of Russian challenges, expressing solidarity with member states, including Romania, targeted by hybrid threats.
