Foreign Minister Oana Ţoiu announced that Romania will allow an increased American military presence on its territory for operations in the Middle East.

In an interview with Reuters, Oana Ţoiu stated that Romania will support an increased military presence of the USA on its territory to facilitate refueling operations from the Middle East. Although she did not provide precise figures, Ţoiu mentioned that Romania intends to invest 2.5 billion euros in Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, expanding the accommodation capacity for 10,000 soldiers.
