Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Defense, stated that the arms factories in Romania have been neglected, but through the SAFE Program, efforts will be made to revitalize them. He mentioned that the Bucharest Mechanical Plant, the arms factory in Cugir, and the plant in Sadu will benefit from new contracts, essential for their survival.

Miruță emphasized that 60% of the program's funds will be allocated for products manufactured in Romania, which will also allow for the transfer of licenses for these products. Regarding the contracts worth 5.6 billion euros with Rheinmetall, he explained that the proposal came from the Prime Minister's Chancellery, involving several ministries, including the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Transport. Miruță highlighted the importance of these measures for equipping the Romanian Army.

"In the arms factories in Romania, trees have grown, as the funds for equipping the Romanian Army have been misused. Today, through this SAFE Program, not all factories will be saved. But the Bucharest Mechanical Plant is state-owned and has a new contract. The Cugir arms factory was on the brink of death, it has a new contract. The Mechanical Plant in Sadu was on the brink of death, and I know this very well, it has a new contract. The Shipyard in Mangalia has been cornered by the politics in Romania," said interim Minister Radu Miruță on Thursday evening, at Antena 3.
