Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan participated in the General Assembly of the Association of Communes, where he emphasized the difficulties faced by local administration, especially in the context of reduced financial resources. He mentioned that most of the funds for local authorities come from transfers from the state budget, which limits their capacity for growth. Bolojan highlighted that Romania is facing significant deficits and that it is essential to improve efficiency in resource management.
He also warned that if results are not achieved, reforms in local administration may be necessary, including the merging of communes. The Prime Minister promised a package of measures to strengthen the capacity of local authorities to plan and generate public policies, emphasizing that change must come from communities, not just from Bucharest.
