Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized that, due to the budget deficit, austerity measures have affected education, and the teaching norm has been increased from 18 to 20 hours per week. In Romania, out of the 230,000 positions in education, approximately 40,000 are occupied by substitutes, which affects the quality of education. Bolojan mentioned that the 20-hour norm is standard in many European countries, but he avoided participating in discussions with the unions, referring to the analyses conducted in the field.
