In an interview for Antena 3 CNN, Mircea Geoană, former Deputy Secretary General of NATO, discussed the changes in the nature of war and the definition of peace, in the context of the NATO summit in Ankara. Geoană stated that the Alliance needs to rebalance, emphasizing that the summit will focus discussions on the Black Sea and the eastern flank.

He warned that threats from Russia are becoming increasingly complex, and NATO must respond quickly to new realities. Geoană also mentioned the new NATO bank, which will allow companies in Romania to borrow as cheaply as those in Germany, facilitating the development of a private sector in defense. He highlighted the importance of innovation and the transfer of experience from Ukraine to strengthen Romania's defense capabilities.

"Like in a long and old marriage, we are in this alliance. As always in the life of the planet, in the life of people, there comes a moment when things can no longer continue peacefully. This summit is part of a process that will not be easy, of reconfiguring the alliance between the USA and Europe. It is a renegotiation. The alliance needs to rebalance. We sometimes see controversial statements, but fundamentally, this is my message. And here, in Ankara, perhaps the future American president, we will continue to balance this alliance. You cannot endlessly ask America for everything. The summit in Ankara will be the summit where our geography, the Black Sea, the eastern flank, will be put back at the center of discussions, and I believe that the president and the Romanian delegation will get the most out of this summit," said Mircea Geoană.
