Mircea Geoană: "At the moment when the world is changing, arrangements are being renegotiated. Each nation begins to play the power game. We thought we were in the year 2000, but we are in the 21st century, when everything is being renegotiated."

"At this moment, around us, things are rearranging, we should move from a reactive state to a state of neither fibrillation nor fear. It is a signal that your strategic relevance may be smaller than we thought. We are out of phase because we had a sense of false comfort. We are in NATO and the EU, and that is very important. At the moment when the world is changing, arrangements are being renegotiated, and space, and cyber, and AI... All these things have started a new geopolitical cycle.

The mistake we made is that we thought it would continue like this. Every nation is playing the power game. Every nation is starting to play the power game. We thought we were in the year 2000, but we are in the 21st century, when everything is being renegotiated.

We see a much more pragmatic America, which has to take into account nuclear Russia, we have started to forget how the game is played. This cold shower I hope we interpret as a warning signal, we need to wake up. It is a defining moment for the next 5 decades," said Mircea Geoană, on Tuesday evening, live on Antena 3 CNN
