The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that a reevaluation of the free parking spaces is necessary, emphasizing that their number exceeds the available capacity. He mentioned that there are more free parking spaces for journalists and hybrid and electric vehicles than actual parking spots, which is not sustainable in a civilized city. Ciucu stated that the expansion of paid parking will face resistance from the population, but it is essential to capitalize on the assets of the City Hall. He also expects criticism and negative reactions from public opinion, but believes that these measures are necessary to balance the parking situation in Bucharest.
