Deputy Marius Budăi, first vice president of PSD Botoșani, stated that Romania has entered technical recession, a situation generated by the austerity policy of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. In a press release, Budăi emphasized that PSD warned about the consequences of this strategy, offering solutions such as the Economic Relaunch Program and support for farmers, which were ignored. He highlighted that the economy has decreased from a growth of +1% to -1.9% in just six months, with two consecutive quarters of economic decline, representing the most severe post-pandemic drop.
Budăi mentioned that the economic confidence index has dropped to 92 points, below the alert threshold, and estimates from the Fiscal Council suggest that this trend will continue. He criticized the current government, stating that PSD will not remain silent in the face of a misguided direction and will continue to demand changes in the country's leadership.
