Ludovic Orban, former prime minister and liberal leader, stated that president Nicușor Dan will do nothing to protect Dominic Fritz from losing the mayoral mandate of Timișoara.
Orban claims that the president will quickly promulgate the amendments to the Integrity Law, ignoring the USR's appeals, as Fritz's removal serves his interests. This analysis was made in the context of a recent decision by the Constitutional Court, which affects the political future of the USR leader.
Orban believes that Fritz's independence has become a problem for the system, turning him into a legitimate threat. He also criticizes PSD for using legislative levers in favor of total control, accusing them of contradictions in public discourse.
Even though losing the mandate seems inevitable, Orban asserts that Fritz's legitimacy as USR leader should not be affected, emphasizing that USR will organize a congress to renew its leadership.
