The Lithuanian government has decided to close two border crossings with Belarus for security reasons, leaving only two of the six open.

The decision to close the Lavoriskes and Raigardas border crossing points follows efforts to ensure tighter control of the flow of goods, transportation and people at the border in the context of sanctions and smuggling. The measure is also aimed at countering attempts to import and export goods under sanctions.
